Biography[]
Captain Carmen Ibanez (real name Carmencita Ivanêz) is a Terran military officer of the United Citizen Federation Space Fleet. She was a former crew member of the ill-fated Corvette Transport Rodger Young during the Klendathu Campaign as well as the previous captain of the TFS Athena Armored Heavy Cruiser.
During the destruction of Klendathu, she was the captain of the John A Warden before the ship was transferred to another commanding officer afterward.
History[]
Before the First Bug War[]
A daughter of a Federation Fleet veteran of the Alpha Centauri Colonial War, back in her childhood, she lived near Juan and his parents in the same neighborhood, with their respective families extremely close.
In addition, she is also one of Juan Rico's high school classmates. In school, Carmencita was the sort of woman who never settled into any relationship, with Juan describing her as having a different man around her constantly. In the end, Both of them confessed to their crush on one another and their relationship become well known in their high school years. However this relationship ended when she joined the Federal Service after they graduated from high school.
Fleet Service and encounters with the Roughnecks throughout the Bugs Wars[]
During the aftermath of the debacle that was the first Klendathu Landing, where massive numbers of troops were killed, she survived the battle and learned that Rico had been killed. However, in reality, Rico was only wounded in action. It was not until a year after the fact that she was informed by Juan's wife Isabelle Flores Rico, that Rico still lived. They would meet again in the fleet that was to seize Planet P from the Bugs.
Whenever a drop ship she's piloting is crash-landed due to whatever circumstances, she often helps the Roughnecks carry out their missions. At times when she gets to talk to Rico on occasions, she would often jokingly reminds him of his lingering love for her after their graduation farewell party and how she become a major influence on his decision to enlist and the embarrassing fact that Rico would often asked for a raunchy photo of Ibanez in one of their Summer Vacations as an "encouragement item" for him during his time at the bootcamps and his early days as a low-ranking Mobile Infantry Trooper.
Post Destruction of Klendathu and subsequent career[]
During the destruction of Klendathu, she was the captain of the John A Warden before the ship was transferred to another commanding officer afterward. Currently she was appointed as the captain of the TFS Battles of Ypres, another Federation's John A Warden Class Battlecruisers while also providing the newly promoted Rico as a Sky Marshal useful advices and assisting him on his daily command of the regional Western Fleet.
Also, due to her important role in assisting Rico's ragtag fleets in breaking the Bug's blockade of Earth during the final stage of the Third Bugs War, she would also be promoted to a Flight Instructor for the new recruits of the Federation Fleet in Post-War period. Due to the losses the Federation endured in the Third Bugs War, the need for skilled combat pilots become more detrimental. Being one of the surviving veterans, Ibanez is now assigned with the role of a Flight Instructor for the new Advanced Pilot Training Program, teaching a new generation of newcomer and young recruits on fighter and strike tactics and techniques on the more advanced fighter platforms with an ever increasing and demanding training courses which reflected a new era of naval expansion and development for the Federation Fleet during the Post-Citadel League Integration Period.
