The Golem Project was a top-secret development program by Cerberus in 2186 CE with the purpose of successfully augmenting and using Husks as infantry units.

Gregory Hawthorne of the Odysseus Cell was in charge of running the project from start to finish, including it's original conception in 2183 CE. Many Husks were captured and studied by Cerberus for research purposes and experimentation. The experiments proved far too great for most of the Husks as only one, known as Subject Omega, survived the physical augmentations and mind-control implants.

Augmentation Phase[]

To improve their resistance to incendiary, cryo, and shock-based attacks, the Husks had advanced skin-like membranes composed of a special composite material grafted onto their bodies.

Those who survived received several cranial implants of mind-control devices and VI downloading ports, which proved too straining on most Husks as much of what was left of many of their brains were fried.

To improve their vitality, EVE-01 Life Support devices were implanted into their chests. The subjects were also integrated with Ablative VIs for damage protection, Nanocrystal Shield Generators for defense, and Microscanners and Medical VIs for added aid.

Skeletal Lattice, Microfiber Weaving, and Lattice Shunting were integrated into the surviving Subjects for added durability and strength. A synthetic spinal cord was grafted along the Subject's back to reinforce the original one and the rest of the skeleton.

By the end of the augmentation phase, only one Husk had survived. Synthetic muscles, similar to that of a Geth Prime's were grafted over it's original arms and integrated into it's synthetic nervous system. An exoskeletal system was grafted to it's legs to greatly improve mobility.

The final phase of the augmentations was a final series of implants, which greatly enhanced the subject's reflexes, vision, and intelligence.
