Staff Lieutenant Rex Schaal was a well-respected officer of the Systems Alliance Marine Corps and a trainer of the Vanguard Program.
Known to be very cold and almost brutal, Schaal built an almost poisonous reputation for himself for excessive violence. He would later be employed to use those same traits with training candidates of the Vanguard Program.
